For a number of years, I worked indirectly with Mimi on workload and court procedural processes. Later, I worked under Mimi’s direction on several statewide projects—the most notable being reentry court. In the reentry court project, multiple agencies found areas of consensus and alliance due to Mimi’s leadership. Mimi brings a calm, strategic, highly experienced and professional approach to any project or undertaking. I offer a variety of workshops that can be helpful to people at all skill levels that can be adapted to meet the needs of specific organizations. Workshops can be delivered onsite or offsite, and scheduled for half-day, full day, or multi-day sessions. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
First-Time Managers Individuals hoping to promote to their first management position and newly hired managers will learn how to conduct effective meetings, facilitate effective communication within their team, have difficult conversations, and provide effective performance feedback.
Experienced Managers Experienced managers (1+ years in their current position) will learn how to tailor meeting design to meet objectives, facilitate communications and prevent conflict within their team, have difficult conversations with employees, peers, supervisors, and provide effective performance coaching.
Seasoned Professionals Seasoned professionals (5+ years in management or administrative roles) will learn how to tailor meeting design to meet objectives, facilitate communications and prevent conflict within their team of subordinate managers or between subordinate teams, have difficult conversations with employees, peers, supervisors, outside organizations, and provide effective performance coaching prior to or during disciplinary proceedings.
Building Effective Leadership Teams Designed to meet the needs of a single Board of Directors, or the members of distinct leadership teams, participants will learn about and practice collaboration skills that accommodate team members from different disciplines, communication and negotiation styles, and levels of seniority. Other subjects covered include effective meeting management, conflict prevention, conflict resolution, and difficult conversations.
Communication skills Participants will learn about and practice effective communications given different communication styles.
Negotiating with ‘Style’ Participants will learn about 9 different negotiation styles, and effective strategies for working with each.
Difficult Conversations Participants will learn about and practice strategies for having difficult conversations that lead to good results.
Preventing Conflict Participants will learn about and practice effective communication skills and different approaches to preventing future conflict.
Project Planning and Management Participants in the day-long workshop will learn basic project planning and management skills. Special attention will be paid to including evaluation strategies and reporting results. Participants in the two-day workshop will work on developing specific project plans that include performance and evaluation measures, data collection, report writing, and presentation of results.
Policy and Procedure Re-engineering Participants in the day-long workshop will learn basic skills for assessing the status and utility of current policies and procedures, how to write effective policies and procedures, and how to provide training and implementation assistance to impacted employees. Participants in the two-day workshop will learn how to assess the status and utility of specific policies and procedures, assess the interrelationship among them, develop and present policy recommendations as needed, and prepare, circulate, adopt, implement, and assess the utility of revised policies and procedures.
